Faith

There comes a time in all of our lives that we lose. We lose money, health, jobs. Sometimes we lose the one that gives reason to breathing. Grief can cripple us or challenge us. During a time of grief I lost my creative need and would not pick my camera up. Finally after much time I knew my beautiful sister would have that I stopped creating. I channeled her treasured jewels with a beautiful model and opened my eyes. I present, Faith.

When you lose direction, push through, it is an amazing time for a personal project.

Your Treasures.

Your Treasures.

Importance of Photo Critiques

Soliciting a professional eye is important when a photographer builds a portfolio. However, it is important for the photographer to do a self assessment first. A photographer must be able to look at the body of work with a distanced yet gentle eye. All artists are their own worst critiques. One can start by creating a folder and dropping images that are upon first glance bland. An easy way to start a critique is by asking yourself, "would I buy this as a piece of art?" After going though 100 or so photos do another round, create 3 folders marked, Best, Better, The Best placing 33 images in each folder, the 100th image should be your favorite of all time.

Even if your images consist of people, landscapes, and editorial images it is okay to lump them together. The next stage is to then find a second pair of eyes preferably someone qualified in photography to sit with you and provide a critique. Trust, it is a good thing.

Two Hours a Critique and Photographic Building Session

Two Hours is your chance to have your work professionally critiqued by a photographer and educator who has seen tens of thousands of images, has taught for 30 years, has helped thousands of students build portfolios for higher education and has an eye to help you develop yours. That photographer is me and  in the two Hours workshop, I will review your images with you for one hour,  we will identify your goals, shooting habits, your strengths, answer questions, and offer you advice to stretch. At the conclusion of your hour I will offer some shooting ideas and an assignment that will push you to exercise your new ideas and vision. We will meet in a week or two and review those images and complete the second of hour of critique.

This workshop has an introductory price of $65.00 through the end of July. Fill out the contact form and I will put you on the schedule.

Gear

I am a long fan of Nikon and carry her all the time, my first Nikon was a Nikon F2 with a beautiful 50 mm lens. I shoot Fuji, she's my good time gal, always accurate, beautiful lenses and while everyone states the weight is so much nicer, a camera's weight has never bothered me. I use them for different reasons with amazing results. I love the Nikon for the weight and the clarity of the image and adore the prime lenses. I love how I can shoot the Fuji with anonymity and not be so obtrusive. You choose.

At the Edge.

It Continues. Bobbie Teal

It Continues. Bobbie Teal

What does it mean when you are at the edge? The connotation is usually one of trepidation and fear and as a last resort. In the artistic world it is something pregnant with discovery, intrigue and that which may be cutting a path through new territory. This is a new place not seen before, new images not tested but here they come, on the edge, fall or fly they will arrive...right at the edge.
